The 5-day- session in mid-August spent in the 3rd largest city of Austria ,LINZ was fully devoted to the bunch of various events on knowledge and skills needed for language teaching… and fun.
The Academy of Political Education and Democracy-Promoting Measures under the guidance of its Director PETRA HAUSER had invited teachers of the Language Centre VALODU MAPE (Valmiera) to participate in the training course Upgrade Your Trainer Skills- Language Learning Through Innovative Methods by Implementing ICT.
What did we manage to see, feel and study then and there? While having an outdoor event,i.e., a hiking, we had a chance to walk along the area of an energy-saving district of Linz called Solar City, for example, and explore local flora near the River Traun. There was a very special trip to the UNESCO World Heritage village Hallstadtt in order to spend a perfect day in an unbelievably spectacular environment by the lake and underground -in Salt mine Museum.
But if we speak about classroom activities, then some basic themes offered were : the use of digital tools and games in language-based education, or how to create a better language environment or improving the theoretical knowledge and understanding of concepts of diversity and inclusion and the associated challenges in using these methods in the classroom.
It was worth having a ride on a narrow-gauge railway Postlingbergbahn to look around and down from the Linz City scape…or from Voestalpine Exibition Centre Tower…Thank you ,our partners Petra Hauser and Sarah K.Breuer-Sirat for giving our teachers such practical and emotional experiences! Thank you for expanding our horizons!
